Beloved Son: A Story of the Jesus Cults
Published in Hardcover by Bobbs-Merrill Co (March, 1982)
Author: Steve Allen
Average review score:

Goes beyond the standard anti-cult book ...
Entertainer Steve Allen's son Brian shocks his family by joining a cult. Unlike many parents faced with this situation, Mr. Allen does not respond by hiring a deprogrammer or disowning his son. Instead, he makes a serious effort to find out why Brian has been drawn to this particular group, and tries to find positive elements in this group as well as the negatives. Mr. Allen is himself skeptical about organized religion, but since he makes it clear that he respects Brian and supports his right to believe as he chooses, over the years they are able to reopen the lines of communication and grow closer as a family. Obviously a labor of love.

The Spanish version is a different book!
I just want to correct the previous review from a reader in Georgia (USA). The Spanish version is a different book with different cover and ISBN number. The ISBN for the English version is 2831563151 (pub. date May 1998) while the one for the Spanish version is 2831665634 (pub. date Oct. 1998). This is a great little book...I shall be able to provide my true review when I come back from my trip to Paris in a month. See you soon.

Bernard Wheel and the Lake Elsinore Boys
Published in Paperback by Xlibris Corporation (01 September, 2000)
Author: David Allen Russell
Average review score:

Fun, Exciting . . . It's a Book?
This book is fun, interesting, catchy and leaves a big question mark in your head about what will happen next to Bernard Wheel and the Lake Elsinore Boys. This book also reminds you that you can do anything if you believe, or in other words, you can do anything with mind over matter. The book hypnotizes you to read more and more. It is the kind of book you can read over and over according to my son, who is a fifth grader.

My mother's book
Since my mom wrote this book, I think it is absolutely terrific. (...) There are a whole lot of facts in here that make great conversation starters, as well as a chapter about unusual hybrids. Trust me, it's worth looking for!

A memory on every page
What an incredible journey! Having traveled the Alaskan Highway, I know the hazards of tackling that terrain. The words "Prepare to meet thy Maker" were aptly stated. After hours of peddling over potholes and mountains, a soothing soak in the Chena Hot Springs must have been rejuvenating. Think of the planning that went into Johnson's trip; carrying a laptop computer, yet! What tales the early Klondike prospectors could have recorded if they had owned one. It was a great read!

A GEM IN MY COOK BOOK COLLECTION. REAL FAVORITES FROM COOKS AROUND THE COUNTRY BUT MOSTLY FROM THE SOUTH. THE REGIONAL EMPHASIS IS THERE IN SUCH STAPLES AS SHRIMP & RICE ROCKEFELLER AND SHRIMP & EGGPLANT CASSEROLE, OR FRIED CAJUN SHRIMP. LOOKING FOR A CASSEROLE? THIS IS THE PLACE!

Blab 6
Published in Paperback by Kitchen Sink Press (August, 1997)
Authors: Monte Beauchamp and Doug Allen
Average review score:

Culture and Amusement a great combination
I have a friend who complains that there is nothing left of art and culture. Actually, I've heard it many times from many friends, and although many would balk at calling comics (the little drawings and word balloons) art, I can't find a reason to distinguish it otherwise. Blab is a platform for this form of art, and more. It's culture and wonderful insight, it made me wish I could draw - I found myself wishing modern films were this interesting! I hope they can do many many more.
